Hillhouse Quarry Group Ltd is based at Troon in Ayrshire where we operate one of the largest independent whinstone quarries in mainland Scotland.
We are an industry leader, with modern, efficient plant and the capacity to produce in excess of 1million tonnes of quarry products per annum.
The rock extracted in the quarry is a high density basalt with low drying shrinkage properties. This makes it ideal for use as a drystone or as a coated aggregate, and in ready mixed and pre-cast concrete products.
We produce all nominal sized aggregates from whin dust to Type 1 sub-base and can provide rock armour of up to 10t in weight. Our products are used extensively in Ayrshire and have been exported by sea via the nearby ports of Troon and Ayr.
We operate a total of four coating plants, three of which are located at Troon. The most recent addition was commissioned in early 2015 and together, these provide an unparalleled supply capacity.
Our fourth plant is situated at Cambuslang to the east of Glasgow and became operational in December 2013. It is capable of producing in excess of 200t of coated material per hour and is ideally positioned to serve central Scotland.
We provide the full range of hot rolled asphalts and macadams together with stone mastic asphalts and EME’s.
All coated materials are produced and supplied in accordance with ISO 9001 and the requirements of National Highway Sector Scheme 14.
Hillhouse operates three ready mixed concrete plants. These are situated at Troon, Kilmarnock and Dalry with uplift / collect facilities being available at the Troon plant. All ready mixed concrete products are manufactured in accordance with BS EN ISO 9001.
We also operate an MCM60 mobile concrete batching plant which can be deployed to site and is capable of producing in excess of 50m3 per hour.
Hillhouse Precast specialises in the supply and installation of pre-stressed precast concrete hollow core flooring and precast concrete stair-flight units. All units are designed and manufactured in accordance with current Standards and to meet any specific design requirements of individual contracts.
Our design staff will work closely with the main contractor, architect and consulting engineer to ensuring that all practical architectural and engineering features, service openings and design loading requirements are incorporated into the finished product.
Hillhouse Contracts is run primarily as a specialist road surfacing operation whereby the full range of surfacing works can be undertaken. We also have the capability to manage, supervise and undertake small to medium sized civil engineering projects.
Our regular client base includes local authorities, national building and civil engineering contractors, as well as local builders, developers and private customers. We have undertaken surfacing works as far afield as Stranraer, Dumfries, Edinburgh, Kirkauldy and Fort William.
We take an uncompromising approach to quality in both the products we make and the services we provide. We aim to be the best in our industry for customer care and to ensure that our clients receive the premier service we believe they are entitled to.
We operate a Quality Management System which complies with the requirements of ISO9001:2008 for the laying of asphalt mixtures on roads and other paved areas in accordance with National Highway Sector Scheme 16.
We are members of CECA Scotland and Constructionline and are SSIP Accredited.
