Client: Scottish Power
Main Contractor: Farrans (Construction) Ltd
More Info
The main project was to construct, commission and test a windfarm comprising 68 Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) for the purpose of generating an output of up to 142MW to be exported to the national electricity grid network.

Our involvement was to surface the upgraded existing site access from the A701. This included the surfacing of 1,700m2 of access road with base, binder and HRA 55/14 surface course together with the associated tie-in with the A701.

There was an added complication in that we were required to maintain access to the site throughout the course of our works. This was overcome by undertaking the works at the weekend and utilising up to 30nr tippers per day to guarantee the supply of material from our plant at Troon.
